Final Project Idea

My Project is going to be titled something along the lines of '101 Strangers.'

I'm trying to decide between photographing the people I meet before I talk to them, after I talk to them, or both.

Also I'm trying to decide whether I want to ask specific questions or really vague questions such as 'who are you?'

  1. I think asking vague questions will leave room for a lot of different responses from different people, so it might be more interesting.

  2. i think it would be cool for the images that you take before you meet the person to be kind of "cold", or disturbing. the images you take after you meet the person could be bright and show a little of their character/personality. you could as the question "who are you" but make them respond in a one word answer, and then try and capture a photo that describes that word!

  3. if you want more uncomfortable poses you could ask strange or broad or embarrassing questions. if you want them to feel comfortable, you could help to ask questions that might draw out their personality. if you do this, you could start with questions that make them feel comfortable talking or sharing. then continue to ask more and more probing questions to elicit revealing answers.

  4. Cool concept of photographing before and after. I think it will be interesting to see these ideas photographed.

  5. I think doing both would be cool, because you could see the change in expression of people from one to the other. Specific, quirky questions could elicit some interesting responses, and tell us who they are....

  6. I think it would be really great if you could take a picture of the person before and after. People love to talk about themselves so ask them questions about who they are and what they do. It'd be interesting if you could be in the picture with them...to see how they react to you before and after haha

  7. I think the idea is really interesting! I think that when it comes to asking them questions, I would maybe just ask one question of "who are you?" and then have them show that in the photo you take of them. So maybe just say "let me photograph you in a way that represents you as a person." I feel like that way the viewer can decide what they see.

  8. I think that photographing them before you talk to them, wouldn't really convey the effect I think you're going for. I think it would be way more fun, if you're going to do it before, then definitely to do after as well. Because I think that if you photograph them after you've built a relationship with them, the pictures will turn out different.

Annnnddd do vague!!! well, lies. Do both. I feel like simply asking "who you are" to 100 different people wouldn't deem to be as... effective? ... as one might think.
